The hotel and their staff were excellent. The one big negative was the spa, which may be separately owned and operated.
The spa staff was uncoordinated and untrained The front desk unmanned for several minutes, so I had to find someone to check me in. My masseuse was clueless, giving me the worst deep tissue massage I’ve ever had. She never introduced herself, confirmed my name or length and type of treatment nor asked for or followed my requests about areas to focus on. It is a VERY awkward and uncomfortable beginning when someone walks into your room, doesn’t say a word and begins drenching you in oil.
She then aimlessly worked on me, clearly NEVER having been formally trained. It was more painless than productive and so worthless I ended it halfway through my time. It felt like she was replacing someone on short notice and clearly had no idea what to do.
The “manager” thankfully and correctly refunded my charges and offered me another complimentary massage with someone she said was their best masseuse, but at that point I was unhappy enough to pass on the offer.
I hope my terrible experience was unique and they find well-trained and competent staff in the future.
