"This was an APA property. The rooms were much larger than APA rooms in Akihabara, but I couldn't compare them to other hotels in the area. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were nice. The beds were comfortable and the controls on the bed were useful. It was convenient for transportation, as there were bus routes nearby that could take you to the station or to shrines. But the area around the hotel itself lacks many restaurants or shops. You'll likely need to take a bus to shop anywhere or...

"Very easy to find after getting off the shinkansen at Kyoto station. Checking in and out was done via a machine kiosk (for some reason it couldn't read any of my credit cards, but I could pay by cash)"

And even if you decide to stay indoors, the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and relaxing (not to mention the spa!). "The Granvia is an excellent hotel if you are coming into Kyoto on the Shinkansen. It is located right in Kyoto Station and is easily walkable to get there with luggage. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. The staff were all very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay there again if we are in Kyoto."
