"We loved our 2-night stay at the Grand Hotel Villa Politi in Syracuse! The property is very historic, having been established in 1862, and it is literally built adjacent to one of the archeological sites that Syracuse is known for. The staff was so welcoming and helpful, the Winston Churchill Bar was charming (and they have a daily happy hour with complimentary appetizers), and the breakfast buffet offered a nice variety of choices. There's a large, very well-maintained outdoor pool and deck...

"Perfect location adjacent to trsin and bus stations but, as do often in such cases, the immediate area is shabby and the haunt of prostitutes and other street life. No real danger but hardly ideal..The hotel itself is a grand old palazzo with many beautiful features, especially the interior gardens. It's only a 15 minute walk to the nicer parts of Catania. I'd stay here again."

"Very nice and charming hotel. The staff is amazing. We were welcomed like old friends and given numerous tips for our 3 day stay in Catania. Breakfast is good and you can get freshly made scrambled eggs ( real eggs!) served with a smile. Order double espresso and add hot water to have really good coffee as americano is likely an instant coffee. Bed is very comfy with spotless white sheets. The area around looks a bit sketchy, but we never encountered any problems. "
