Room was incredible, exceeded all expectations. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The music in the buffet was extremely loud and annoying. I couldn't even speak to the person next to me. That was my only complaint about a great resort

The room is good. We had a good view of the beach and pool. Compared to other resorts I find the staff here less warm and welcoming. I also didnt like that you cant bring food in the pool area and there’s a charge for room service. You have to upgrade to premium all inclusive to have that service. One of the staff also locked himself in our room. We reported it but none of the staff got back to us until we checked out.

The property is on a quiet and historical setting where a famous movie and a tv series has been filmed here. Food were great! Only complain is that the a la carte dining is only open to us one restaurant per night. Also the lock in our room 1615 the screw is missing one, so the lever from inside did close in on me when I shut the door locking me out one time. Luckily my wife came out of the shower and opened the door for me. Also, the room service was not included with the call inclusive. But the view from balcony was excellent and every staff I saw were very kind and helpful.

Food was not up to standards we’ve been use to in Mexico. The restaurants were very poor. Mexican restaurant did not serve mexican food not even refried beans. The Japanese restaurant only had bad sushi and the tempura was breading for chicken. the buffet had too many strange dishes that nobody liked. Too many bugs. Everyone got eaten alive The Staff, the room, the pools and the bars were great.

We were traveling with kids aged 6 and 9. They loved playing in the pool and swimming on the beach. It was a nice quiet resort. The games room was fun, you have to pay for tokens and several pieces weren’t working but we still enjoyed it. The views were beautiful. Food was okay. We wish they offered non-alcoholic beer as an option.

The room was great, the views were great, the staff was amazing. Souvenirs were pricey. The food could have been better. Small buffet. The food needed an authentic touch. Need better wine. Okay entertainment. Very small beach. Good views. Good price if reserved with time. Check in process needs improvement. Lots of mosquitoes during December.

The service staff was very friendly accept for the front desk. Overall the property was fine but could use some upgrades. The beach and the mountains are beautiful. It is quite far from the airport and town so if you want to get better food, it’s not easy. The food at the property was just ok. We wanted to stay in the resort for 1.5 hours longer due to our flight and they would not allow to extend the stay in the room even for a charge and to stay at the pool was an extra charge per person. It felt like nickel and diming. We will not come back to this property.

There was construction on the beach which made noise, ruined our view and soiled the ocean. The food was just a tad over edible, even at the a la carte restaurants. You can't really swim in the water safely because there is a steep drop off and a strong current that pulls you in very quickly. I will say that the premium rooms were great and the lush surroundings was beautiful. However this is not a resort you come to relax and read and experience silence. There is music constantly on and not enjoyable music. This resort convinced me that I wil never do an all inclusive again. We didnt get to experience authentic mexican food . Such a shame becaude i picked mexico exactly because the food is great.

The Barcelo was excellent! Our room was spacious and spotless the moment we arrived we felt safe and secure as we were met by security at the front gate who verified us as guests. The restaurants are very clean and we felt most of the staff was trying to give us a great experience. The food was very good and we liked that we could go to the buffet or the restaurant for lunch to mix it up during our stay. My wife and I plan to return to the Barecelo, most of our experiences I can describe as positive but like anything there are room for improvements. There are some staff I would rate above excellent, they made our trip and we appreciated them greatly! That view from our room was gorgeous, the deck was a perfect size! Thanks again Barcelo from the Murphy’s see you on our next adventure! Stayed December 2-9 2025

I got sick twice. Once from all the garbage discharge being dumped in the beach and the other from the buffet. Beach stank like sewage and had dog feces all over. Buffet was very bland and just the same basic left overs everyday. Nothing cooked properly. Either over boiled or under fried.

The food was horrible. Even the vouchers you get for the nicer restaurants were bad. Got sick after 2 days with food poisoning and was sick for 2 days. Could have been the ice, not sure. But even if i didnt get sick the food was just so bad. Had a ribeye at one of the restaurants and it was salty and not cooked properly. Had the italian cuisine and ordered a pizza. Pizza was gummy and bland even though they have a pizza oven!

The hotel and staff was great. The only complaint I have is how the food is handled at times. The cooks wear a glove, however they are cross contaminating at times. Crack an egg, then use same hand with glove to grab bacon (no tongs). This was not all the time. Our group of 6 - 4 of us got sick being gastro type. Mine being the longest - My gut was still not right even whenI returned home. We have been to Mexico and other countries and have never had this issue before. So cannot say it is because we are from Canada and you are in Mexico. Not sure what it was from, just that we were sick and due to that would not return in case it was the hotel itself. The hotel is in a beautiful location, you can snorkel right from the beach by the rocks I saw a puffer, angel fish and colorful fish also.

Resort is dated, although we could tell from the photos so no surprise there. We picked this resort due to the ocean views “fishing village vibes” the setting is very nice. We didn’t like that none of the waterfalls around the pools were on. They were all off, the food category is mid to rough comparative to other all inclusive we’ve visited…. Breakfast was the strongest meal. The rest of the meals were pretty rough. Never really had any guac, no fancy chocolate fountain or cool deserts. Most of the food options are mashed together ingredients mixed in a few different variations and given different names… honestly the food situation made this stay the toughest… even the Ala cart options were rough we tried 3/4 restaurants… we went into town a few times just to get a break from the food on resort. This is something I never felt I needed to do in the past… our expectations are pretty mid… food was rough. Staff was very nice in restaurants and around the pool area etc. The actual grounds as far as trimming bushes etc need attention, a lot of paint needing touch up broken toilets, interesting smells. Snacks in the cantina were always the same. Hot dogs with buns that were hard. Hamburgers cut into 1/4s type vibes… For an all inclusive the room snacks were rough as well basically a few drinks, peanuts and a small pack of chips. No MnMS or anything cool like that. Luckily across the street from the resort walking distance there is a minimart where you can get some sweets.

Nice vacation minus getting food poisoning from one of their restaurants on my last night there. Was puking in my room for 12 hours. Would not stay here again as they do not handle food properly. Also charge $29 usd for a lost towel card. Such a rip off. Entertainment is sorely lacking as well, very boring.
