So let's be real, this hotel is in the Zona Romantica, so if you want to be an adventurous tourist who's okay with slumming it a bit in exchange for great culture and a nearby beach. You couldn't pick a better spot. Lots of Great restaurants nearby. But this is also the fabulous side of town if you get my drift. So if gays make you uncomfortable choose a resort close to Puerto Mágico. I don't think you'll find a friendlier part of town than Zona Romantica.

When we first arrived we were placed in a room that faced the pool. At first we thought this was great until around day 2 when they started blasting the same three songs for 12 hours through the pool speakers. We asked for a room change after 2 days of this. Thankfully this was granted and we were moved to a room on the sixth floor with a great view of the beach. The pool was fantastic and the restaurant was good. The beach is not blocked off so vendors will still come through while you are trying to relax. They are also currently doing construction so we had that to listen to during the week days in our new room. The communication from the front desk could have been a lot better. You are required to wear a bracelet the whole time you are there and return it upon your checkout. You also have to return the remotes and keycards when you leave. You are given a ticket when you checkout that you have to hand to security but aren’t told that when they give it to you. Overall it was an okay stay but I would definitely not stay there again.

When initially checking in, we were given a basic room on the 1st floor and told our "style" of room was sold out. Complaining the next day, the room classification that we paid for, suddenly opened up, and we moved to it. We were told that this upgrade is "on the house" but it was the original classification that we paid for......personally not happy with those tactics. Once we moved into the new room, the rest of the trip was good. The strength of the property is the employees (minus the front desk issues) and wait staff. All were very friendly and very accommodating with our simple asks. The location is great within Zona Romantica to provide easy access to the beach, as well as all the great restaurants in the zone. It is a good hotel for the amount that we paid.

This is a nice property in Zona Romantica old Puerto Vallarta, right on the beach, with two nice pools and free beach chairs and thatched umbrellas. A small restaurant for lunch and breakfast. The Juinor Suites are plenty big with a nice balcony and view of the Ocean. It is out of the way at the very bottom of the Malecon. A few blocks from the nice shopping and eating options... Could be cleaner and closer but staff is very friendly and helpful and i really enjoyed myself.

All staff were very friendly. Beach access was excellent with plenty of umbrellas and chairs. Drink and food options were very good. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta.

Overall the grounds are nice but our bathroom reeked of mold or sewage the entire stay. Also the pool could have been managed better. Most of the chairs were not occupied but always retained towels preventing their use. Ask soils be cleared overnight to ensure guests know what is available. I was there 3 days and never had an available chair by the pool.

This was our 4th stay at the Tropicana - the location is great - the pool and beach are great - only issue we had is the room we were given was not the room that we reserved and prepaid for - they moved us to the correct room the following day only after we had to make a fuss
