First time in Japan. I’ve been to Korea a few times and am very familiar with their subway system. So I wanted to pick a hotel that is close to the subways. This hotel is about a short 1-minute walk to a bus station, but an 11-minute walk to the closest subway station (Shinjuku-sanchome station). This is a pretty big pain when you’ve got luggage, kids, and/or after a LONG day of walking, you have to walk 11 more minutes to get to your hotel. On the other hand, the hotel is conveniently located to tons of shops, restaurants, and family mart and 7-11’s. It’s also within walking distance to the major red light district in Shinjuku, so if that’s your thing, this place will get you pretty close. It’s a little sad cause I saw several very young girls at 5 or 6 am walking around dazed and obviously either post-hangover or just a really hard night of partying. As for the hotel itself, it’s clean. Tries to be “hip” with the decor. There were several Americans with young families, and other tourists from around the world staying there. The front desk is very helpful and most speak a little English. The WiFi is spotty. The breakfast is really basic. Think 3 different cereals, yogurt, and some small croissants & muffins. There is a self-serve push button espresso machine. The rooms are SMALL. Our family of 5 squeezed into the 3 beds that they provided. Very little room to move Bathroom is small, had a strange damp smell, but clean. Overall, good value if that’s what you’re looking for.
