The hotel location was great. It has a homely feeling. Though reception is not staffed 24 hours the staff are very helpful during day time. Rooms were clean and had all the amenities we needed.

This small hotel was very clean and conveniently located near many restaurants and attractions around Venice. The hotel manager was very enthusiastic and helpful in every way, offering up suggestions and directions that were much appreciated by us as first time visitors to Venice. He even printed up tickets for one of our tours that we forgot to print up at home. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to others. Be aware however, that there is a restaurant downstairs that can get noisy at night, but this many be fairly common in an older, dense city like Venice. We were not bothered too much by the noise and really loved the hotel's ambiance, location, and the attention to service offered up by the hotel's manager.

The location was right in the center of Venice. We had the only balcony room, which we left the door open. Problem was there was a lot of late night partying noise by the restaurant below and nearby drinking facilities. Then in morning ( 6 am ) they were revving up the motor boats in the canal directly below our room. You wouldn't even know that there was a hotel there, as you had to walk through the outdoor restaurant below to get to it. They allowed us to check in early as our room was ready.

Wow! I was nervous as they indicate they are a one star facility, but they blew my expectations out of the water. They were responsive to my questions before I arrived, and provided excellent instructions on how to get to and in the hotel. There may not be someone there but they make it super convenient to self serve. When you do meet the staff - They are friendly, helpful, welcoming. There is no elevator, the stairway is narrow and was a bit strenuous to get my checked bag up. Could not carry both checked and carry on at the same time because of size of stairs but it was fine. Welcomed with complimentary still, sparking water, Prosecco, and some cookies. The room was well decorated Venetian style, and very clean. No English speaking channels on tv but it’s expected. Shampoo was individual packets, I didn’t use them. They had hair dryer, electric kettle, qtips, mini fridge, wardrobe, clean towels, awesome AC, but lacking on ventilation, if I didn’t have AC on it didn’t feel like there was much airflow in the room so I had to keep it on to not feel stuffy. Open windows let in pests otherwise it would’ve been another option. Location was perfect. 5 min from water bus, 7 min walk to other side of island to go to Murano or bus to airport. If you take a private water taxi, it’s right on the canal so you’d get door service. Lots and lots of restaurants and shops right at the doorstep, but also within very short distances of the hotel. Highly recommend.

Small hotel in the heart of Venice. Very clean. Lots of dining options close by and just a few minutes walk from the Rialto bridge. Front desk only manned occasionally, but very helpful when present. Very steep stairs to reach the lobby. Could be difficult to manage with heavy luggage. There’s no elevator but there was a stairlift that we could have used. Unfortunately the bathroom had a foul odor in the mornings.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is in a fantastic central location near all the major attractions but also close to the quieter areas of Venice. The location of the hotel cannot be underestimated. The vaporetto is close by and there is a quality restaurant at the entrance. It is right on a canal. Our hosts were superb. Every effort was made to ensure that we were comfortable and we were helped with finding hidden places. The room was small but clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough. Would absolutely stay there again.

The location was great. Very close to the Rialto bridge and many restaurants. Luca was amazing. Very helpful on restaurants, things to do, the location of the hotel, etc. The amenities even included a mini fridge with prosecco at check in. It was a pleasure to stay here.

Our room overlooked the canal. It was perfect and had everything we needed. All items were offered at no additional cost and upon checking in, with lots of luggage from our previous stays in Scotland and Barcelona, Tiziano assisted us with all of it, welcomed us like we were family, drew out maps and points of interest, restaurants, areas to visit and detailed information to save us time and money leaving for the airport. The property is in a perfect location, and close to the Rialto Bridge. We highly recommend the Hotel Al Sotoportego to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Venice! Thanks again Tiziano, for a great experience!

Perfect accommodation for two nights prior to a cruise. The location was perfect and the staff was very helpful. There was some noise in the morning (outside noises) due to unloading of supplies off of boats nearby but we wanted to get up to go exploring anyway so it did not bother us. Both of us slept well and enjoyed the recommended restaurants nearby.

Our stay at this hotel was pleasant. The manager was super helpful, extremely kind and seemed to bend over backwards to ensure our stay was great. He provided a ton of information on where to eat, areas to travel to and everything else under the sun. The rooms were really nice and clean and the bed size was perfect for two people. The air conditioning was a big plus because it was very warm in the room and having AC was perfect. The bed was hard, which i didn't like too much, but i slept well regardless. I would definitely come back here again and would recommend this place to anyone wanting a welcoming stay.
