"The hotel staff was courteous and the dining options were satisfactory. However, the rooms need a lot of work. The standard rooms are very much outdated and in need of a lot of maintenance, while the updated rooms suffer from humidity and a musty odor that permeates the corridors. Overall, our stay was mediocre at best, but the pleasant demeanor of the staff somewhat compensated for the shortcomings."

"Mutrah central location is great for the touristic activities. For the remote Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the reception was helpful in arranging a taxi. As the other review wrote, basement bar noise continued around 4 a.m. though I was on the 4th floor and the noise might have been bearable somehow. The reception seemed not familiar to the Expedia pre-payment arrangement. So, you may be better to have your Expedia booking confirmation handy. Hot shower needed more than 5 minutes to come out. "Lovely place, shame about the new buildings that are in the process of being built - they are not shown on the photo and it does spoil the view from the beach into the sea (and the quietness of the place due to building works). "The location was great! The room was decent, a place to lay your head. It was small but doable. However, the bathroom was a bust. The bathroom was very small. There were crawling insects of some sort as well as flying nets. The telephone did not work. When I went to report it to the front desk, there was no one there manning the desk. I waited for ten minutes and still no one showed up. I reported my concerns about the bathroom to Expedia. They refunded my money and I booked a different hotel....
