"The Pousada Brasil is a 6-7 minute walk to the main town square, and the owner/manager is very friendly and helpful. As with many pousadas, the hotel is a very traditional building with a little balcony, nice windows with shutters. "The stay there was generally great. Good view from the accommodation, quiet and good breakfast. Service is nice, and efficient through WhatsApp. Only one issue is the last night of my stay there are termites. I know that they are not harmful, but the wings and worms dropped on my baggage. I don’t know if there are efficient and sustainable way to avoid this or not. Guess it might be a common issue living in old buildings. Overall, Ouro Preto is so nice, worth coming and living for some time."

Hotel staff (that only spoke Portuguese) claimed that that had to be approved by Expedia. Contacted Expedia who said that they had to ask the hotel (Catch 22?). After several conversations with both of them I managed to get a small discount that was far inferior to the cost of one night. Will not use Expedia again."

Instead, our room was woefully small and was damp with a smell of mildew.
