Dive for shipwrecks, go for coastal walks and glide across the water in a canoe at this attractive beach in southeast Sardinia.

Enjoy hours of fun, relaxation and adventure when you visit Campus Beach. This pretty bay close to Villasimius Town is one of the longest beaches on the island and is a popular spot for canoeists, divers and families.

Stretch your legs with a walk along the 2,460 feet (750 metres) sandy expanse. If you are feeling a little more energetic, join the early morning joggers along the shoreline. Then go for a swim in the Mediterranean.

Many families visit the beach because of its warm, clean and shallow water. There are also fewer rocks here than some of the other beaches along the coast.

Take a canoe out on the water or venture under the waves on a scuba diving trip. Campus Beach is part of Capo Carbonara, a protected marine area that attracts many snorkelers and divers. Rent equipment from the nearby diving centre. Experienced divers can arrange for expeditions to some of the area’s shipwrecks, which lie in deep water. They include the wreckage of Roman vessels and ships that were torpedoed during World War II.

Flanking the beach is a landscape of vegetation-covered hills. Climb up a mossy knoll for a good vantage point of the area, including the sweep of the bay.

When it comes to food and drink, visit the nearby bars and restaurants or bring a picnic with you.

Campus Beach is nestled between the small towns of Porto Sa Ruxi and Campulongu on the south coast of Sardinia. A large section of the beach is private and belongs to a hotel resort. The complex offers activities and sports, such as beach volleyball and horse riding.

To get here, drive southwest from Villasimius for about 5 minutes. The distance is approximately 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) and there is a parking lot at the back of the beach.
