The grand structure dates to the late 19th century. At approximately 39 meters (128 feet) tall it is one of Australia’s tallest mainland lighthouses. Its original light source was a kerosene wick lamp, considered one of the largest at the time. It was also operated manually until the late 20th century. You’ll find Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse approximately 8 kilometres (5 miles) from the centre of Augusta. The lighthouse is open daily, excluding Christmas Day.
