Bring your beach blanket and pack a picnic for a relaxing day of sand, sun and surf at one of East Hampton’s calmer beaches.

Georgica Beach is one of the pristine beaches that East Hampton is known for, encompassing 300 feet (90 meters) of shoreline in the southern portion of the town. Enjoy everything you could want from a Long Island beach experience: great surf and a long expanse of clean, white sand.

Many consider Georgica Beach to be the prettiest of East Hampton’s sandy spots. It is also one of the most relaxing, with less crowding than many of the area’s other beaches. Stake out your place in the sand and watch the Atlantic Ocean spread out before your eyes.

Bring your fishing gear and see what you can catch off Georgica Beach’s natural stone jetty. Grab your surfboard or boogie board and catch waves on the popular surf break offshore. Collect seashells nestled in the beach’s pristine white sands. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer season.

Bring snacks, refreshments or even a whole picnic to the beach. Note that there are no concessions for sale on site. Fires of any sort are not permitted.

Driving is by far the easiest way to reach Georgica Beach. While residents have free parking, seasonal and daily parking permits are available for guests to purchase. Try to arrive early to ensure that you get a parking space.

Part of Georgica Beach’s charm is its relative remoteness compared to its other East Hampton counterparts. The winding roads surrounding it are mostly residential, filled with beautiful beach homes. Take a scenic stroll around nearby Lily Pond. Catch a glimpse of the homes surrounding Georgica Pond, a coastal lagoon, with celebrity residents including Steven Spielberg, Martha Stewart and Calvin Klein.

Visit Georgica Beach throughout the year. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, visitors flock to the beach for its sunbathing and swimming opportunities. In other seasons, it is popular for bird watchers, fishermen and beachcombers.
