The Prefeitura Municipal de Gramado is a nice place to stop and admire some of Gramado’s typical architecture. Include this building in your itinerary as you enjoy the sites of the town center on a walking tour.
The building itself is designed in German Tudor style with classic features, such as the dark wooden beams that frame the outside of the structure. Observe the beautifully carved wooden balcony, shutters and gables, complete with Gramado’s signature coat of arms.
Take a seat on the bench outside and admire the thousands of flowers that bloom year-round in the council’s flowerbeds and learn about the history of the town from the information wall located outside.
Watch one of the parades starting at the Prefeitura Municipal building that are staged to celebrate some of the many special events on Gramado’s calendar. Christmas celebrations are especially grand and often include fun activities such as light displays and a special treat for children, a float of Santa with his helpers. The building is located in the center of Gramado near Nicoletti Square. Stroll around the pretty area to see examples of the German and Italian architecture for which the town is famous and breathe in the scent of the area’s lush flower gardens.
Enjoy a meal at the nearby Rua Coberta, a popular covered walkway where you will find many fantastic restaurants. Sample delicious local chocolate at the adjacent chocolateria. If you are staying in one of the great hotels in the town center, the Prefeitura Municipal building will be an easy walk away.
