The Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal is among the main ports in the territory. Come here for a boat trip to the picturesque territory of Macau, a former Portuguese colony on China’s southern coast.
Walk around the ferry terminal and enjoy the views of Victoria Harbour as well as the skyscrapers and distant hills on the Kowloon side of the water. Relax in one of the waiting halls or the premier passenger lounge. You can also have food and drink in various restaurants and browse for souvenirs and trinkets in several stores.
Note that the ferry terminal also has a rooftop heliport. Bring your little ones to watch the helicopters landing on or taking off from the helipad. Purchase boat tickets from one of the tour operators in the ferry terminal and head to one of several spots in Macau.
Once in Macau, use Hong Kong dollars for shopping and dining or change your money to Macau patacas. The area is one of the most densely populated spots in the world, with its population made up of predominantly Chinese. Explore the area’s history or enjoy gambling in huge modern casinos. Macau was a Portuguese territory for more than 400 years but returned to Chinese control in 1999.
Back near the Hong Kong port, go for a walk along the adjacent Central and Western District Promenade. The route provides incomparable vistas of the water and the harbor.
The Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal is in the Sheung Wan district on the northern side of Hong Kong Island. Arrive at one of the surrounding bus stops or take the metro to Sheung Wan Station. You can also ride a ferry here from Macau or the Hong Kong International Airport. Make sure to see nearby sights including Western Market, the Liang Yi Museum, Man Mo Temple and Hollywood Road Park.
