"The place wasn't difficult to find, I was a bit worried when I was booking. The location is great, it is close to a lot of tourist attractions. Our room had a wonderful view of the falls. The wind and rain were strong when we stayed, but there wasn't any issue. The room design was chic and posh. The kitchen was fully equipped. I wish they will have flexible/refundable booking option. It was also a bit pricey. I will recommend for longer stays. "

"Stayed in small camping pod and loved it. Loved the atmosphere there. Overall, much greater than I expected, and I already was excited for the stay. the restaurant overlooking the waterfalls and river, the troll garden stroll, the hot tubs. All superb. It is in a remote area and provided us an excellent view of the northern lights, which we watched from the hot tub. Ideal experience, I recommend giving it a shot. "

"The property was absolutely beautiful. Lots of privacy, beautiful sunset and was able to catch a glimpse of northern lights during our stay. The dogs on the property were incredibly sweet and made the stay so much more memorable and fun."

"More of a basic cabin than anything. No dishwasher or TV, but great place to view auroras and surrounding scenery a few km from Hofn. Beds comfortable but needs some more (or bigger) pillows."

"The Hekla Cabins are three, wonderful little cabins just off one of the main roads through the area. The cabin comfortably fit two, but there's a pullout couch (at least in Cabin One) for an additional sleeper. The kitchen has a small fridge and a stovetop, and the bathroom has a shower with plenty of hot water (WiFi was also available). "This is a very quiet property, and each "little house" is set so that you have privacy. The interior is very small - perfect for a couple or a couple with a small child - but we did end up putting our suitcases back in the car so we'd have a little more floor space. Check-in (and out) was easy. The house has a great view of the valley. We were hoping for clear night skies (which we did not have, but definitely not an issue of the property. "Beautiful little cabin with everything we needed. Lovely view and very central to the area. It gets hot in the summer and if there is no wind I would be a bit worried about the bugs, but because it was windy they left us alone with the windows open. I’d recommend a screen window or door to aid this. Also the door to the bathroom needs a new sliding rail or something. Had to practically lift it to move."

"Full house 15 minutes from Akureyri. Full kitchen, 3 bedrooms sleeps our family of 5 comfortably. Beautiful view from outdoor patio with grill and hot tub. Great value and great spot from which to explore the North. "

Lovely hotel

"Love hotel halfway between the airport and downtown. The room itself was super comfy (with a lovely bathtub!) and the concierge was very helpful. The breakfast was your typical nice hotel breakfast (eggs, bacon, cold cuts, etc), plus a sampling of exotic meats (e.g. smoked whale). It’s about a half hour walk to downtown if you take the shopping street (just down the road and up to the nearest light and to the right), or maybe 40 min if you take the shore and sculpture walk (which has gorgeous views) — down the road in the other direction. Easy for taxis to get to as well."

Best service/staff/stay

"We had such a nice stay here in December and I was so grateful to have chosen this hotel. The customer service was great. The staff was so helpful and friendly from start to finish. The cleaning staff was very kind, the front desk personnel was so helpful and professional, the restaurant staff was great, even the bartender was amazing and helpful. We felt very welcomed and well taken care of. The breakfast buffet had lots of options. There are lockers for luggage in case you need to store luggage as you wait for a room or after checking out. The water stayed hot in the shower. The room was clean. The spa was a great experience. Free parking was nearby, just down the block. The cafe attached to it was amazing. The lobby is cute and cozy. WiFi worked well. We were even able to see the Northern Lights from our bedroom window!!! The only minor issues were that the beds weren’t that comfortable but they were okay. Also, we weren’t able to get Netflix to work while we were there. "

"Very good property in very dark area. Highest ceiling hotel I've been. We were on our way to glacier tour the next day morning. Perfect location, just 25 mins away from meetinfg point. They also offer Northern light alarm call service for complimentary. We were able to spot gleamce of aurora in the middle of night. Just sucks we can only stay here for a day due to our schedule. Highly recommend. "

"Hotel is conveniently close to the airport. It was nice and clean - only thing it didn’t have was soap in the room. Breakfast was good and early (starting at 4am) for travelers with early flights. Hótel also has a shuttle to the airport. "
