Las Olas Beach

A lively boulevard dotted with ritzy yachts and mansions runs alongside this glorious bay, known for its clear water and fun evening vibe.

Las Olas Beach is a narrow sandy stretch a short distance from the louder and more crowded beaches of central Fort Lauderdale. The site provides a range of water sports gear and beach equipment to keep visitors entertained and relaxed all day. Stroll along the adjacent boardwalk to discover the range of shops, cafés and restaurants overlooking the beach.

Admire the serene atmosphere on this clean and pristine-looking bay that is great for families. Bring snorkeling gear and dive into the clear water to spot the colorful fish swimming around you. Find your own spot for a picnic or rent a deck chair to settle in for sunbathing.

Stay in the area into the evening to experience the raucous atmosphere that can often take hold, particularly when university students visit for spring break. Loud music and alcohol are not allowed on the beach, which is regularly patrolled by police officers.

Note that the beach is free, open to the public at all times and equipped with bathroom facilities. Stay at one of the luxury hotels a short walk away. Wander leisurely toward Fort Lauderdale Beach or stroll along picturesque Las Olas Boulevard. On the way, check out the deluxe yachts and properties along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Find Las Olas Beach between the districts of Central Beach and Barrier Island, at the eastern end of Las Olas Isles. Rent a car in the city center and drive east for 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) to get here in about 5 to 10 minutes. Leave your car in the metered parking lot at the rear of the beach. You can also take a bus or trolley to a nearby stop.

While in the area, stop at some of the neighborhood landmarks, including the International Swimming Hall of Fame Museum, Sebastian Street Beach and Fort Lauderdale Beach.

area quite tacky and dirty compared to other parts of beach. Clearly surviving on name. Shops and food outlets in area not at all appealing and did not feel as safe as other areas
