"This property has a great location but doesn't mean that cleaniness should be sacrificed. This is an old building but it doesn't mean that the apartment shouldn't be up kept. The paint, the furniture, the sinks in the bathroom and kitchen, the toilet were all old and dirty. There was even a roach walking on the shower curtain. I've stayed at many small old apartments in many apartments but never like this one."

"The apartment needs serious updates if not a complete renovation. The microwave plug doesn’t reach the outlet. The kitchen cookware is rusty and bent. We found a dead roach in a tea cup. Black mold in the shower. The drawers in the bedroom were broken. A light bulb was missing and another one was burnt out. They left one toilet paper roll for a two week stay. "AVOID! This place was an absolute nightmare! Ants, roaches, and bedbugs all over the place! When I arrived, the place was unclean from the last guest and the hotel did not care. There is no front desk. BEWARE: It is in the favela and very dangerous even during the day! The pictures are deceptive. I left before my booking ended. You could not pay me to stay here again! "

"This is my second time staying here. It is clean, pleasant, and reasonably priced. Most appreciate that it is in the touristy area of Santa Teresa and near LAPA. That is nice too. There's also a great view of the center from most rooms. My only minus, which isn't tied to the place, is that if you're out late, it can be difficult to get an uber up into the steep hills of Santa Teresa. Most taxis will though."

"I cant say enough good things about this place and the customer service that i received. The pictures show exactly how the place look. Its sparkling clean, really comfortable and quiet. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need. Now i wont look any further any time i have a trip to Rio. Another plus for this property is the doorman: they are also amazing and really helpful. I never been so happy to stay in a property like i was at this one. For sure i will be booking again."

"My husband and I had a fantastic stay at the Rio Othon Palace! The breakfast was absolutely delightful, with plenty of options and a gorgeous view to start the day. The staff was very pleasant and went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable experience — their hospitality really stood out. If you’re booking a room, I highly recommend choosing an oceanfront view — waking up to the sight of Copacabana Beach is an experience you won’t forget. The renovated rooms on the higher floors are definitely worth it; they’re modern, comfortable, and offer the best views. The pool area is beautiful, though it’s on the smaller side and fills up quickly, especially given the size of the hotel. During peak hours, particularly around breakfast, the elevators can get busy, so factor in a little extra time to get around the hotel. Overall, this is a fantastic place to stay in Rio de Janeiro, combining comfort, location, and stunning views. The pleasant and attentive staff made the experience even better. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rio!"

"I absolutely loved this hotel. It was in a nice area, very walkable. Right across from the beach. The staff was very sweet and accommodating! I really enjoyed my time there and was sad when it was time to switch hotels. They also had a very extensive breakfast that was very good. "
