quaint, quiet, cute, casual & comfy
We will definitely stay here again. Comfortable, clean, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. It sits back off the main road, so was quieter than expected. I can't remember the last time my husband and I slept in! The heater was a little quirky, but once we figured it out, it was fine. The loaner bikes are a bonus. All in all, a very peaceful and relaxing getaway.

1950's hotel
We stayed only one night out of two planned. The first room the TV did not work so we moved into second. This place is rustic but not comfortable. The heater control was hard to understand so it was not on at night so we were cold.

Simple, Clean And Friendly
Simple and clean. No extras (lotions or shampoos). Great location but need more lighting around the hotel. We were talking a walk before New Year dinner on the 12/31 and istead of nice Italian restaurant I ended up at the Emergency Room. It was dark outside and I triped and landed face down on the concrete. Missing tooth and stiches inside my lip and out. I'm not saying that it's hotel's fault, just suggesting the light in the area could be better. So be careful at night.

Rustic but not comfortable
The room was cute and rustic, but the uneven stone floor was cold and the small cotton area rug was slippery on the stone floor. The toilet had problems right from the beginning. The heater worked well, but all heat rose into the high peaked ceiling. Maybe in another season, the room would have been cozier.

good location
The hotel was good value and on the main street. It was only a few blocks from the middle of downtown. Nice to have free bike use and the trails were just outside the backdoor. Helpful staff. Bed was comfortable and enjoyed the jacuzzi in the room. Some sand on the stone floors but otherwise clean.

nice place, would probably visit again.
The hotel is right off of the main street, easy in, easy out. this is more of a motel style with a park in front of your room type of setup. there are two long bungalows with at least 8 rooms each (i didn't take a tally) and a nice country vibe. i heard the place was recently renovated and it looks pretty cool. painted wood faces inside and out, big wooden king size bed, stone on the floor, and was pretty clean. our room had a little kitchen and directv playing on an lcd (although kind of a waste, since the receiver isn't widescreen/hd capable). we didn't check out the jacuzzi or pool. staff was friendly. the bad was intermittent no hot water. staff was kind of aware of the issue, they mentioned it may be because a lot of people are showering or the jacuzzi is running. said to try in 20 minutes and let them know. i forgot to let them know, but it was a good hour before any hot water came through (barely lukewarm otherwise) this was a 5 pm. the next morning there was hot water, but it would randomly get cold. also they weren't able to accommodate a late check out due to staff shortage... which sucks... on a Sunday morning. there was also no breakfast, just coffee and tea, which is not what the description said when booking. it didn't matter that much to me but i thought i'd point it out. one mildly annoying thing was the lack of a night stand on my side of the bed. all in all, i would come back. i got a great deal and had a great time. if they get the water issues fixed, i don't think they should have a problem keeping the rooms busy.

Great Room with Personality
We really enjoyed this room, best part of Ojai! Slate floors, Western/country decor, in room hot tub was great. Immaculate! First room - hot water was out, so we were moved to a second room, which was perfect. Staff was very friendly and apologetic about hot water situation, which unfortunately prevented coffee in the am as well. If we'd been staying longer we would have loved to take advantage of the free bikes and the bike route behind the hotel.

Nice rustic California getaway
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and well maintained. Had kitchenette which was a surprise. Close to downtown Ojai. Quiet. I liked the rustic decor. I would recommend this motel to a friend.

Romance in a room
It was a very pleasant surprise to open our room door and be treated to a redwood panelled, wooden setting with a floor made of individual flat stones and a miniature hot tub in one corner. It was like staying in a rustic cabin, complete with the creaking ceiling with the changing tempuratures. We had just reserved a hotel room in Ojai as a getaway and didn't expect the warmth presented by this room.

Nice quiet place
The room was very nice and it was a quiet place. They had cereal in the morning. We were told there would be waffles, but the place changed ownership and the new owners don't serve them. The pool area is nice, but the pool is pretty cold and it needed a little cleaning. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Great weekend getaway!
We really enjoyed our stay at the El Rancho. The location is very close to town. Liked the cowboy/cowgirl decor; the rooms were clean, quite and friendly staff, quiet. The pool was not open (closed by the county apparently - and had been since September) but pool area was still a nice area to enjoy.. Reasonably priced - we'd definitely come back again.

Cowboy Chic
I have stayed at this hotel many times and enjoy the quaintness of the rooms and of Ojai itself. The kitchenette is great for saving money on lunch or snacks. This trip it was cold in town and I could not get the heater to come on. I guess there is a trick to taking off the thermostat cover. I wish the staff had taped a note to it or something. It would have made the trip much more comfortable. The cottage rooms are by far the best value for your dollar.

Had dinner at a local Pizza Parlor. Great food and awesome people. What made my stay more enjoyable had to be the Hotel Service staff and the cleaninnes of the room was perfect. Check in was a breeze with a smile. This trip can be compare to 0nes i've taken in the past. I only wish i could stay there one more day. But is was a 1 day Bussinness trip...

Clean Bed, Polite Staff, But...
I essentially needed a clean place to stay, but the facility was aged, including a coupld of the towels in my room that were ready to shred... The office did not open until 8 a.m., so I could not ask for a replacement towel. The staff was polite and nice, but the facility was aged and in disrepair. The sign in the lobby lists a bunch of "complimantary" stuff that should be in the room, but I did not find the toothpaste. If you just want to crash in a clean bed after a business meeting, you can't beat the price!

Charming and cowgirl themed!
What a great trip! The Ojai Rancho Inn was a cute little motel in the perfect spot. The room was clean and well-appointed with a flat screen tv with cable, an ipod speaker dock and most importantly we had a 2 person jacuzzi tub in the room. Those perks made for a great weekend! Also, I saw in some of the reviews people mentioned things were not clean and the carpet was stained. Our room was very clean and they have remodeled so there was no carpet, rather a beautiful stone floor (bring slippers). The breakfast included was simple, but adequate and included waffles if you were feeling adventurous enough to make your own. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was the road noise in the front of the inn. Our room was close to the road and it was noticeable. I hope they put up a row of trees or a lattice wall with some vines to help block out the noise. Out the back door of the property, is the bike/walk path that will take you right in to the center of town. All in all, Ojai Rancho Inn is a fantastic little find.

Absolute Worst Hotel
We discovered an hour before a wedding that the shower in our room did not drain. My husband was up to his ankles in water and I had yet to take a shower. The front desk poured a drain cleaner into the shower but the cleaner had no effect. The front desk told us to "let the water over spill the shower basin and they would bring more towels"! Instead my husband bailed water out with a waste basket while I showered. It gets better....when returning back from the wedding at 11:10 pm, we along with another guest found that our key cards did not work. The hotel lobby closed at 11 pm. The so-called hotel emergency line went unanswered. What is the point of an after hours emergency line if no one is going to answer!!! After an hour, the guys in their suits were able to go through the bathrom windows to open the doors. I explained the events of the previous night to the front desk girl in the morning. She was unable to get the hotel owner on the phone and I am still waiting for the owner to call me back! This hotel is the ABSOLUTE WORST hotel that we have ever stayed at!!!!
