This cosmopolitan area of San Juan is a great place to experience the relaxed, contemporary culture of Puerto Rico.

In the heart of bustling San Juan lies Ocean Park, a cosy residential suburb that’s a favourite of locals and tourists looking to kick back and relax. It is between Condado and Isla Verde on the northern coast of Puerto Rico, just to the east of San Juan. The neighbourhood’s tree-lined streets, sandy beach, and abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars make it the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon or evening.

Stroll the oceanfront streets and check out the variety of international and local cuisine on offer. Rejuvenate with a mid-afternoon cup of strong Puerto Rican coffee, or enjoy a Piña colada while watching the sun set. At night, you’ll find families and couples strolling the streets. Check out Avenida McLeary, the centre of the neighbourhood and the main entertainment precinct.

The big attraction of Ocean Park is its sprawling beach, which can be considerably less crowded than neighboring beaches. Surf, kite or windsurf in the excellent offshore conditions and perfect swells.

For those more inclined to relax on the shore with a book, there’s plenty of room to find a space to dig your toes into the soft, white sand. If you don’t want to stay in the city, there are a handful of upscale oceanfront hotels here.

Ocean Park is clean, quiet area that’s great for couples looking for some downtime as well as families. Unlike many of the surrounding areas you won't find any casinos, attractions or museums here. This peaceful neighbourhood is located on the coast of San Juan and can be reached by car or bus. There is ample parking in the area.
