San Roque Golf

Practice your golf swing and improve your short game with rounds and lessons on the immaculate fairways and greens of this country club.

Take time out on the grounds of San Roque Golf, a country club with two championship golf courses. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside of green hills and cork oak woods and was once the summer home of the Domecq sherry-making family.

Before you start your game, practice your swing at the driving range. You can also warm up on the practice areas, putting greens and practice bunkers.

Play a round on either of the courses. The Old Course extends for 7,117 yards (6,508 meters) and was the venue of the Spanish Open in 2005. It is reserved for members of the club although there are daily periods when the general public can play. The New Course extends for 7,105 yards (6,497 meters) and hosted the Spanish Open in 2006. The course was designed in collaboration with Spanish golfing great Seve Ballesteros and is open to the public.

Visit the equestrian center located on the club’s grounds. Riding lessons are available for people of all ages and riding disciplines and levels.

Stay for a meal in one of the restaurants that serve a variety of cuisines including tapas and Japanese food. Admire the elegance and beauty of the clubhouse, which is set inside the Domecq family’s country mansion.

The golf club is located in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja mountains, 37 miles (60 kilometers) from Marbella and 70 miles (112 kilometers) from Jerez. The site is easy to reach by car from both locations. Note that all players need to show their golf handicap certificates before they play and any junior player under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

San Roque Golf is open daily to members and non-members. Consult the club’s website for the list of fees, which are different for the high and low seasons.
