I do not normally post reviews but this is an exception. This is an apartment unit converted into four bedrooms for booking plus shared WC and shower, so strictly speaking not a hotel and no AC, although there is a fan in every room. The location is about 15 minutes from the Maestre train station, which is both a pro and con since there are many homeless roaming around the train station, especially at night. As of early August 2022 there is a bedbug infestation in at least one of the rooms, from the mattress to the floor to the wall. From the number and size of bedbugs discovered (both on a scale I have never seen), the infestation must have been at least several weeks old. This obviously made my stay at Leone impossible and also left me with nowhere else to go since the bedbugs woke me up at 1:30 in the morning, forcing me to roam the streets of Maetre for 5 hours as the room did not even have a chair for me to sit in. My short visit to Venice was also consequently ruined as I spent the entire following day sleeping at a different accommodation. I informed the owner and he was nice enough to offer to refund my stay and promised that he had disinfected the room and threw out the mattress the very next day. The owner sounds genuinely apologetic and sincere. Nonetheless, it has been almost two weeks and I have not received refund, and I would suggest travelers to read up on other reviews regarding the bedbugs situation before booking.

Decent Short Stay
The accommodation was nice and a good location in terms of easy access to Venice. It was unfortunate that all of the kitchen facilities were not available to use, such as the stove, as we would have liked to cook and this is the reason we chose a self-catering accommodation rather than a hotel. Additionally, we paid more in the city tax then we expected. The booking page said a city tax of EUR 1.40 per night per person would be charged. However, we were actually charged EUR 4 per person, per night, which was substantially more than expected, totaling EUR 24 for 3 nights. All in all, was decent for a short stay.

Although this is a shared accommodation it was kept well and cleaned everyday with someone coming in to clean it. Breakfast was brought( biscuits, cakes or crackers) everyday including juices. The owner was great and helped anyway he could with information and problems. Internet worked great. No complaints at all

Very nice property, close to transit to downtown Venice. Description made it seem like it was private apartment, but more semi private; you share a kitchen with other rooms of people. Otherwise wonderful location!

Great location just outside from the bus stop to go to the Venetian Islands and 15 min walk from train station, and 30 mins drive from airport. The manager is amazing, responsive, and very helpful in general. Rooms were beautiful and clean.

"Good and reasonable....."
Leone D'oro is very good at the price what we booked. Very reasonable. It is 1.4 Kms walking from Venezia Mastre train station. Bus stop is just 100 mtrs from the building. Bus 4L takes you directly to Piazzale Roma (Venice) in 15 mins. Leone D'oro offers local cuisine breakfast which includes Toasts,Biscuits,Cakes etc which is included in stay cost. Supermarkets and hotels are nearby. Only suggestion is owner should allow cooking for those who like to cook their food.

Mestre is an easy start into Venice
Mestre was great and easy access to Venice. Close to train and bus station (15 min walk) Apartment is clean quiet and tastefully decorated. Continental breakfast was fresh every day with pastries juice tea and coffee Raul brought them daily He was a great host. Met us late at the bldg waiting outside an extra 30 minutes due to our flight delay and lack of communication Laundry supermarket and restaurants all nearby Bus stop into Venice is half a block away Raul was very friendly and helpful with lots of information for Venice local services and transportation Would definitely stay there again

The bathroom had no toilet paper, there was no breakfast served as mentioned in the comments, the shower floor was pretty dirty underneath the gel carpet they put on. The kitchen was greasy. On the other side, the owner was pretty friendly and made us feel welcomed.
