What you can expect

Take a hike across the fortifications that guarded the city of Seoul for more than 600 years for a look at some of Korea's historic works. As you scale the slopes around the old city, you get a look back at the villages and grand palaces that helped to define life in the Joseon Dynasty.

Once you meet your guide, strike out from the Anguk station for a visit to Bukchon Hanok Village, a traditional village that sits between a pair of Joseon-era palaces. Still inhabited by local residents, the community hosts about 900 classical Korean buildings, or hanoks, and lets you see a bit of living history.

Next, your guide leads you along Seoul's historic fortress walls. Pass the city gates that date back to the 14th century, follow the fortifications along the slopes of Baegaksan, and look out across the city from Waryong Park before you start back towards Myeong-dong Station to wrap up the tour.
