Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site over twenty years ago, it is one of the most romantic and boundless landscapes in Italy.
You can recognise it very easily in desktops and travel magazines because it looks like a hand-painted background, with its farmhouses, isolated “chapels”, rows of cypresses and hay sheaves scattered among the fields and hills.
And still herds of sheep and cattle grazing, which provide milk to produce the delicious pecorino of Valdorcia, called “pecorino di fossa di Pienza”.
Even the wines are famous all over the world, who does not know the Brunello di Montalcino and the noble of Montepulciano?
You will be escorted by our expert driver, and aboard the minivan you will have a full day to enjoy these landscapes and these delights, without forgetting the medieval villages and abbeys that make the Valdorcia an enchanted place.
The first stop will be Montalcino, you will discover the village and its medieval fortress, then you will leave for the Abbey of Sant' Antimo, a monastic place, where peace and boundless nature reign.
The first taste of typical products will be done around lunch time, in a beautiful Brunello winery, where you will stop for a vertical tasting of Brunello di Montalcino wine accompanied by some local product to bite.
Next will be the turn of the “little Rome”, or Pienza, created at the work and pleasure of Pope Pius II Piccolomini, who in the fifteenth century wanted to make the native village a sort of Rome in miniature.
On the way back we will stop in the small village of Bagno Vignoni, unique in its kind, with its central square , or rather central tank, completely filled with hot sulphurous water, a natural healing spring.
Last but not least will be Montepulciano, where we will visit the oldest wineries in the world and we will have a tasting of Nobile di Montepulciano wine.
It will be an unforgettable day, full of flavours, colours, smells, and stories of Tuscany!
