Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early so that you can get parked, use the restrooms, etc. We will board the boat five minutes before the tour departure time. Please know that refunds are NOT provided if you miss the tour. Parking instructions: When you arrive at Port of the Islands, continue straight towards the marina.. On your right is a large, FREE parking lot. Our guests are authorized to park here despite the Tow Away Zone signs. You should see the fire station and the ship store across the street. Should you wish to park a bit closer, you can park next to the marina/ship store and behind the fire station for a $10 parking fee. There are restrooms inside the Ship’s Store. Please meet your captain at the picnic tables located in the back of the Ship’s Store. Your captain has your name and will bring you the boat when it is time to board.

the activity did not match the description, basically. Instead of birding and wildlife, it was all about the concology and the Calusa Indians. It went over by a full hour. The guide was rather rude when it was pointed out that I expected the tour to focus on the birding as a primary activity, based on the description and the title. He even tried to tell me that I did not sign up for a birding trip. There were other inconsistencies as far as the activity description and what we got. I left a detailed review under trip advisor. Verdict - not worth the time and money investment. The guide was very knowledgeable about the shells and the Calusa Indians but the name of the activity was Everglades: Birding, Wildlife, and Photography Expedition, not Everglades: Seashells, Concology and Calusa Indians Expedition. Very little effort was made to even stop by the sand bars that had birds or to stop by the trees with birds after the initial 20 min of the tour... which lasted 4.5 hours.

Capt. Dan was a great guide with deep knowledge of the wildlife in the area and a willingness to share. He clearly knew some very good spots, even mid-day in a period where wildlife might be scarce. We certainly got our fill. In addition, his knowledge of local history and his perspective as a "northern emigree" made for some fun conversations on the boat between sites. Small group meant he had time for all of us. It was a wonderful morning out and we recommend it highly,

The day was beautiful, and we decided that this type of tour was just what the three of us would enjoy, as we love nature, the water, and watching wildlife doing what comes natural to them. While gliding over the beautiful waters among the “10 thousand islands”, we saw herons, cormorants, osprey, plovers, great horned owl and others. Of course, excitement grew to laughter and awe seeing the bottlenose dolphins jumping and playing in our wake as our boat moved along the pristine waters of the Everglades. Our naturalist, “Captain Dan”, helped us to understand the rich history of the area, educate us about the mangroves, and provide insight to the various discoveries along our path. I think I can say with confidence that Dan shared his love and respect of the surroundings and enjoyed our time together as much as we did. Every experience is what you make it, and we had beautiful opportunities to make this experience one to remember.
